In the electricity sector, substantial innovation and decarbonization are underway. Coal is largely being phased out by policy and economics. Natural gas has played a major role in driving coal from the market, but itself poses a longer-term emissions challenge.

While one can debate the timeline, there is broad consensus that gas must innovate (decarbonize) or follow the path of coal. We addressed head-on the question of what technologies, business models, and policies are best aligned with deep and accelerated decarbonization of electricity.
